SBY to Prepare 100-day Program

President re-elect Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono says he will be preparing programs he will carry out in the first 100 days in office and a new Cabinet within the next two months before his inauguration for second term on Oct. 20.

The programs, the outline of which was unveiled during the electoral campaign, would be aimed at enhancing the quality of life of Indonesians through improvement of education and health programs, among others, Yudhoyono said.

“We will strengthen people’s economy, especially micro, small and medium-scale businesses; and we will push for agricultural and industrial revitalization,” he said in his acceptance speech before hundreds of his supporters at the Jakarta Fair ground in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

Yudhoyono added that his new government would further spur infrastructure development and continue pro-people programs, while providing investment- and business-friendly climate so as to boost the economic growth. He promised to choose “best, professional” figures to fill his Cabinet, who he said could be either partisan or non-partisan individuals.
